Crowdsourcing My Fanhood (pickmyNHLteam.com)
On November 9, 2009 I decided to start a little social media experiment. I had always wanted to get into the sport of hockey, but didn’t know where to start or which team to follow.
I decided if you can use social media to dump your girlfriend or water your plants then you had to be able to use social media to pick your favorite hockey team. So I started making a video about each NHL team on every odd numbered day. Then fans could earn points for their team by voting on Twitter, Facebook, and the PickMyNHLTeam.com website.
The project went very well garnering press on NHL.com, AOL Sports, and from many of the individual team websites. In early February I traveled to Anaheim (my new favorite team) and organized a Ducks Tweetup at a Ducks game with over 40 people. Catch the recap video here.
The Minnesota Twins Most Valuable Blogger (TwinsMVB.com)
If you know me at all it’s no secret that I am a die-hard Minnesota Twins fan.
I try to blog about the Twins whenever I get the chance and go by the alias of The Minnesota Twins Most Valuable Blogger. Feel free to check out the blog, follow @TwinsMVB on Twitter, or become a Facebook Fan.
I started TwinsMVB in November of 2007 and through the blog I’ve had the opportunity to meet other great Twins bloggers, connect with many other crazy fans, and even interview a few of the players. If you’re a Twins fan too or interested in contributing to TwinsMVB.com definitely reach out to me.
SPN is a tech and entrepreneur blog dedicated to providing news and information about Omaha and the region’s creative class.
Based in Omaha, Nebraska I met the Silicon Prairie crew at Big Omaha 2009. Big Omaha was an amazing conference last May that was headlined by such stars as Gary Vaynerchuk, Jason Fried, and Jeffrey Kalmikoff. After that conference I was asked to join the SPN team and serve as the Sioux Falls contributor for the region.
Now I get to write awesome stories about all the great entrepreneurs and creative minds right here in my own backyard. It’s a great group of people to work with and I’m really excited for Big Omaha 2010 as well!
